A new home and a new thing giveaway…

new thingMy husband and I recently purchased his grandmother’s house. It was time for her to have less maintenance and us to have more space. But along with more space came challenges. Difficult challenges like putting in new flooring, fixing a water leak under the concrete slab, and painting. It’s been a fun process, except the slab leak. A week without hot water  was rough…rough indeed. But we are finally at a place where we can begin enjoying our new home. So, I figured while I was at it, why not renovate my blog space as well.

I wanted to refresh the look and purpose so I prayed for a verse that would define and set parameters. The verse He brought to mind was…

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19

I didn’t like it. I hope that’s okay to say, LOL, that at first I didn’t like a scripture. My blog design was only going to be new for a short period of time. Then it would be old, and what good would this verse be at that point? But as I thought about it, He showed me how perfect this verse really is.

You see, this space is all about a new thing. God’s new thing. Because when it comes down to it, God is always doing new things. And unless He continues to do new things here…there really isn’t reason for this space to exist.

He is showing me that this space has purpose.  I contemplated deleting my blog. I spent the past few months exploring what it would look like to stop writing.  To keep the Gospel and voice of the Holy Spirit only inside my heart. But my growth suffered severely. I am finding that growth restricted to internal parameters really isn’t growth at all. True growth happens when we allow Him to stretch and bend us by stepping out of our comfort zone and sharing the transforming truth of the Gospel with others. We grow when we walk out our faith, and for me that walk involves writing – right here, right now.

I welcome you back to stephanieclayton.org with renewed and blessed assurance that this space is His. I pray God fills you with joy, peace, wisdom, renewed purpose, and strength every time you visit. I pray you begin to believe that God IS doing a new thing in your life and that you CAN believe and trust Him for ALL of His promises…nothing less. I love you sweet friends and it’s good to be home.

To celebrate I want to give a few things away. A copy of Tracie Miles book Stressed Less Living, Renee Swope’s A Confident Heart Devotional, and Dena Dyer/Tina Samples’ Wounded Women of the Bible. These are all books I have contributed to, and books I would recommend to anyone and everyone. To enter to win leave a comment below stating which book you would like to win and why and share this post on social media of some sort. I will announce the winner a week from today!

Love and Blessings,

Stephanie Clayton

Hi Stephanie! I would love to win Stressed Less Living, thank you for the opportunity. I wasn’t with Proverbs 31 OBS when that study was going on, but hear it was amazing! I have a full time job, a husband, and 6 children (5 at home full-time, 1 that lives with his mom), and always have stress! LOL. I’m so glad to see this post, and your blog looks great. 🙂

Hello! This is my first time to your page! I would like to read the Stressed Less Living. Stress is the title of my life now. One good thing is that I believe it is bringing me closer to God and relying on him more during the day. But like everyone knows – stress is not good for our health. I would welcome any advise or guidance on how to reduce stress! Thank you for deciding to keep your blog going!

    • stephanieclayton says

One thing I suggest often for stress if it involves worry is to give yourself a 15 minute worry period each day. During that time worry all you want. Make an action plan if it’s something you can do something about but if it’s something you have no control over allow 15 minutes for worry and then give it to God and move on. Then if you have to you can worry about again during your 15 minutes tomorrow.

Hi Stephanie!! Love your honesty and this blog!! I’m wanting to blog on a regular basis and this inspired me to give it a try! I’ve only blogged for Proverbs 31 Blog Hops so this will definitely be a “new thing” for me 🙂 I would love to win Dena Dyer/Tina Samples’ Wounded Women of the Bible because I have and have done P31 Bible studies with the first two and both have had tremendous contributions to the woman I am today!!
Look forward to reading your blog!!
    God Bless,
    Nancy

Love this Stephanie! Excited to see how God uses it. I would love to win the Confident Heart devotional. Only reason is it would go great with the book, which I am re-reading now. 🙂 I love your verse but maybe that is because God has been speaking it to me too for the past several days. It keeps recurring in my reading, in my Bible study, and in my prayers. Glad you didn’t stop writing!

It is a great pairing with the book. And yes I am hearing over and over again from God and even in our pastors message at church today that 2015 is for moving forward into His new things, blessings, and promises.

Stephanie, I, too have a blog and I haven’t written on it in quite sometime because I felt like I was being arrogant somewhat. I, like you, (other than on FB) have not expressed those special things on my heart from God because I thought others might think I was arrogant or would maybe say things like ..”who does she think she is.” I don’t write the blog to be arrogant but as you said Stephanie…keeping it all inside of you….but, again like you, it is so hard to keep it in. Thanks for inspiring me and for expressing what I also feel in my heart. Blessings to you.

Oh girl I hear you. You know Satan tries to stop His Word from spreading in all sorts of strange ways. Including making us feel guilty and unworthy of sharing it. Not anymore! It’s time to move forward!

I’d love to win Stress less living!! As a wife, mom & middle school teacher I need some less stress!!!

    • stephanieclayton says

I hear you girl. I do mental health counseling in the schools and middle school kids are tough. Bless you for having the patience and love to teach them!

Your house renovation sounds exhausting & exhilarating at the same time. Hope you took some before & after pictures. It would be fun to see the transformation. Would love to win A Confident Heart Devotional. I do a passable act of appearing confident in most situations, but inside I cringe & tremble with lack of confidence & self-worth. Thank you for the chance to win a copy.

    • stephanieclayton says

Oh girl my husband and I keep saying we should have taken pictures but we didn’t. So wish we would have. And good for you for at least appearing confident. Lol. I don’t know that I even appear that way half the time. Lol. But continue working on it. It’s a really great devotional.

Stephanie, I would love to have Tracie Miles book entitled Stressed Less Living! I’m excited that Tracie will be speaking at my church next Sunday evening, January 13th, for an event titled Divinely Designed at First Baptist Church Madison, MS. I know that reading her book will not only help me, as I have MANY hats I wear and sometimes I definitely allow stress to occupy my mind way too much, but it will also help me when I’m encouraging other woman who suffer from stress overload in their lives as well. Thank you for offering these books. Any of them would be great to have. I’m also looking forward to reading your blog on a regular basis. I found out about it on Tracie’s Facebook page 🙂

    • stephanieclayton says

Awrsome! I love your heart and desire not only to read for you but to share with and help others. You will love Tracie. She I’d one of the kindest, wisest, most genuine women I have ever met. Hugs!
